Driving Blueridge parkway and Smokey Mountain national park

I had to drive home after visiting Dupont national park and I could either go back to Asheville or I could cut through 2 massive national parks and drive down portions of the blue ridge parkway.  It would take longer but sounded great to me!

I drove for about 40 minutes before hitting anything really gorgeous. And pictures don't do it justice, but the blue ridge parkway and the smokey mountains are 100% stunning and there are a million turn offs and look outs. I was in heaven and continually in awe. Although it took 3 extra hours, I can now say I have done it and would not have traded it for a quick zip down the highway back to Nash.
