Arriving in Jamaica

I spent the last week visiting Jamaica and volunteering with VIJON (volunteer in Jamaica Opportunity Network). I went with an organization at my University, and then VIJON took care of everything. We flew into Montego Bay, and then a car was waiting to drive us across the island to the rural and quiet community of Treasure Beach. Our accomdation was a campsite behind the house of the organization owner, Stephanie.

It had outdoor showers, and bucket toilets, 2 big tents, and 2 picnic tables for eating and hanging out. They provided us with solar lamps at night, and cooked all our meals for us!

Our drive into Treasure Beach was just beautiful as the sun was setting over the water!

We stopped for some Jerk Chicken along the way with many locals.

And then settled into those tents for the night- ready to enjoy 8 days on the south side of the island!
